Principe
Ink-jet printing technology is a new printing technology with no contact, no pressure and no printing plate, which can realize printing by inputting the information stored in the computer into the ink-jet printer. According to the working principle, inkjet printing technology can be divided into solid inkjet and liquid inkjet. The working mode of solid ink jet is dye sublimation, but the cost is high. The main working modes of liquid inkjet printers are divided into thermal foaming and micro-piezoelectric, and these two technologies are still the mainstream technologies in today's inkjet printing market. In this issue, we mainly introduce thermal foaming inkjet printing technology.
At present, Canon, Hewlett-Packard and other companies mainly use thermal foam inkjet printing technology, which is a high-temperature and high-pressure printing technology, by heating the nozzle, the ink generates bubbles, and the bubbles squeeze the ink and spray it onto the printing substrate.
The working principle of thermal foaming inkjet printing technology is: using thin film resistors, the ink with a volume less than 5uL is instantly heated to above 300℃ in the ink ejection area, and numerous tiny bubbles are formed, which are gathered into large bubbles at an extremely fast speed (less than 10 us) and expand, forcing ink droplets to be ejected from nozzles. After the bubble continues to grow for several microseconds, it disappears back to the resistor, and as the bubble disappears, the ink in the nozzle will also retract. Then, due to the suction force generated by the surface tension of the ink, new ink will be drawn and added to the ink ejection area to prepare for the next circular jet printing.
Because the ink near the nozzle is continuously heated and cooled, and the accumulated temperature is constantly rising to 30~50℃, it is necessary to use the ink on the upper part of the ink cartridge to circulate and cool it, but the ink in the whole ink cartridge will remain at about 40~50℃ during the long-time printing process. Because hot bubble ink jet printing is carried out at high temperature, its ink must have the characteristics of low viscosity (about less than 1.5mPa.s) and high surface tension (about more than 40mN/m) to ensure continuous high-speed printing for a long time.
